The section/paragraph/sentence indicates what is to be added/deleted/changed to the current Bylaw/Approved Ruling: ADDITIONS are in all capital letters. (Changes/Deletions are in parentheses.) The division of sports seasons shall be as follows: No school shall register more than one varsity team per sport and no student shall participate simultaneously in more than one TEAM sport per season. EXCEPTION FOR D1 AND D2 SCHOOLS ONLY--IN THOSE SPORTS IN WHICH INDIVIDUAL SCORES ARE RECORDED (EXAMPLE: GOLF, CROSS COUNTRY, TRACK AND FIELD) A STUDENT MAY PARTICIPATE IN TWO SEPARATE SPORTS FOR THE SAME SCHOOL IN THE SAME SEASON. |
The section/paragraph/sentence that needs to be added/deleted/changed would read as follows: The division of sports seasons shall be as follows: No school shall register more than one varsity team per sport and no student shall participate simultaneously in more than one team sport per season. Exception for D1 and D2 schools only-- In those sports in which individual scores are recorded (Example: Golf, Cross Country, Track and Field) a student may participate in two separate sports for the same school in the same season. |
Cost Analysis of Proposal: None (If the programs are already established) |
Rationale for the proposed change: In small schools the number of participants is limited; therefore to keep sports programs available for students' participation eligibility in two sports is necessary. This will provide students the opportunity to participate in a program that may otherwise not be available due to shortage of participants. |
