The section/paragraph/sentence indicates what is to be added/deleted/changed to the current Bylaw/Approved Ruling: ADDITIONS are in all capital letters. (Changes/Deletions are in parentheses.) GIRLS - Class A
(1. Class A schools are the 32 largest schools playing girls’ golf and are assigned to four districts.
2. All 32 Class A schools were assigned to four Districts using a modified serpentine method with enrollment as the main means of assignment. The largest school was placed in District 1, the next largest in District 2, the next largest in District 3, the next largest in District 4, the next largest back in District 1, etc., until all 32 schools were assigned. 3. The listed enrollments for Class A were used except that the Omaha Bryan-Omaha Mercy cooperative resulted in their enrollments being combined. 4. All four Class A Districts have eight teams in each district.) ALL 32 CLASS A GIRLS GOLF TEAMS SHALL BE INVITED TO PLAY IN A SEEDING TOURNAMENT THAT WILL BE PLAYED DURING WEEK 11 OF THE NSAA PLANNING CALENDAR. THIS WILL BE A ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT FOR SEEDING PURPOSES ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS. WEEK 11 COINCIDES WITH THE NORFOLK/FREMONT/COLUMBUS INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT. SCHOOLS WHO CHOOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SEEDING TOURNAMENT WOULD BE ASSIGNED ON A BLIND DRAW BY THE NSAA. DISTRICT ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE BASED ON THE FINAL TEAM RESULTS OF THE MEET USING A SERPENTINE METHOD AS FOLLOWS: Exhibit A

The section/paragraph/sentence that needs to be added/deleted/changed would read as follows: GIRLS - Class A All 32 Class A girls golf teams shall be invitied to play in a seeding tournament that will be played during Week 11 of the NSAA planning calendar. This will be a one-day tournament for seeding purposes on a volunteer basis. WEEK 11 coincides with the Norfolk/Fremont/Columbus Invitational tournament. Schools who choose not to participate in the seeding tournament would be assigned on a blind draw by the NSAA. District assignments will be based on the final team results of the meet using a serpentine method as follows: Exhibit A |
Cost Analysis of Proposal: There would be no additional cost to the NSAA. Schools may incur a entry fee and expenses if not already participating in the designated tournament. |
Rationale for the proposed change: 1) This method allows for better balance of competitive teams at the district level. 2) Seeding will be done by competition as opposed to school enrollment. 3) Provides fair opportunities for student athletes to play the same course under the same weather conditions. 4) Entry fee and course site for seeding tournament would be decided by the host school. |
